It’s warm uptown at the Deli

It may be snowy and windy and still frosty with the January chill, and maybe your school has closed today or even work, but if that’s the case you could drop into Urban Deli. We’re open, and we’re warm!

The food is warm too. It’s from our kitchen where the heat is always on. For instance, you might want to indulge in:

  • Our popular Reuben Sandwich, or
  • Our Roast Beef Melt Sandwich, or
  • One of our two pasta dishes — creamy Pesto Pasta or our Mac’N’Cheese.

You may even want to close your eyes and imagine you’re somewhere south as you enjoy our Pulled Pork Sandwich or Muffuletta Sandwich.

You might even want to go with something simple and traditional on a snowy, cold day: soup. Our soup is always homemade, fresh and hot.

Brush off the frost and get warm

Urban Deli's very popular "comfort food," the meatloaf sandwich.

It’s more than a little cool out today — it’s freezing! Welcome to January.

If we may be so bold, we thinks it’s the perfect time for Urban Deli. You can come in and warm up with our creamy pesto pasta or, our most popular; a steaming, Montreal style smoked meat sandwich.  And we encourage you to try our new spare rib sandwich.

Of course, there is always the meatloaf sandwich too …

And if you’re not into venturing outside, you can still enjoy the Deli.  Gather up a few of friends and colleagues and order in. We’ll deliver! Just call us at 652.3354.

It’s always warm in our kitchen, and we like it that way!

Groggy and hungry? We’ll take care of you!

Pulled pork eggs benny on an English muffin served with deli potatoes. Home-made hollandaise sauce is gluten-free.

So here it is … New Year’s Day. How was your night? We hope you brought in 2011 with friends and fun.

And if you overindulged, as in if you’re hungover, drop by the Deli day.

We’re open for breakfast from 9:00am till 3:00pm today, so bring your hangover in and have a relaxing Urban Deli breakfast. Have a look at the breakfast menu. We think you’ll find something that appeals and puts a smile on your face.

You may want to consider starting with a mimosa — hair of the dog so to speak.

Start your morning with a Mimosa (champagne & fresh squeezed orange juice) or make it a Royale by adding Grand Marnier.

A mimosa is champagne and freshly squeezed orange juice. You may even want to make it a Royale by adding Grand Marnier. Mmm!

There’s no rush to get out of bed and make it in for breakfast because we’re open till the early afternoon — 3:00pm. So get up when you’re ready and drop in when the spirit moves you (but before 3pm). Today is for relaxing and taking it easy.

But please pop on in so we can wish you a Happy New Year and start your 2011 with one of our delightful Deli breakfasts.

And don’t forget, we’ve got you covered for coffee too thanks to our friends at Red Whale!

Have a wonderful day and a thrilling New Year!

Join us New Year’s Eve at Urban Deli

With Christmas already in the rear view mirror, it’s now the New Year that is coming up on us quickly, and that means New Year’s Eve.

This New Year’s Eve we have a special chef and a special menu and a special 7:00pm seating. Please call Liz at the Deli to reserve — 652-3354.

Our chef for the evening is Fred Decker. He’s a Maritimer who, like many of us, spent time out west. You may remember a column he had not long ago in the Telegraph-Journal called Field and Table.

You can find out more about Fred (including his fascination with food, particularly local food) at the Bounty of New Brunswick site, where Fred also has his blog.

As for what is on the menu, it begins with a variety of appetizers, including caramelized pears with brie and honey, cucumber rosettes, tapenade toasts and more … all followed by a palate cleansing chef’s choice sorbet.

This will be followed by the primary business at hand, the main choices – land and sea. These options are a pesto chicken or glazed salmon or beef wellington or our vegetarian choice, roasted vegetable strudel with roasted red pepper coulis.

For the full details on our main choices, as well as our ‘something sweet to finish’ dessert duo, have a look at our complete New Year’s Eve menu (.pdf file).

It’s a special New Year’s Eve at the Urban Deli with a special 7:00pm seating. Please call the Deli at 652-3354 and ask for Liz to reserve a seat.

We’re looking forward to a great evening and hope you can join us!
