Another wonderful Friday

You know what’s great about a Friday? It’s Friday! We’re moving into the weekend!

We’ve a couple of off the cuff reminders … Lunch is on and its tasty, but we’re also open until 9:00pm today so if you’re going to the Millrats game, why not start it off at the Deli for dinner? We have a melt in your mouth Reuben Sandwich with corned beef, swiss cheese, & sauerkraut, bacon & onion topping on marble rye bread.

And staying with the mouth watering theme … our ham & Swiss cheese is piled high on our sour dough bread … all worth the walk!

We’re also open tomorrow for our usual Saturday breakfast, 9:00am to noon. It makes for a very nice way of getting your Saturday started.

And finally, don’t forget to cast your vote for The Saltys, Saint John’s first social media awards. They’re a way to celebrate our city’s social media community. There are four categories, and Urban Deli is nominated in one of them, Best Use of Social Media in a Campaign.

Voting closes at noon Wednesday, February 16. Winners will be announced at a very fun night planned for the 17th at the Saint John Ale House. So vote soon!

And have a fabulous weekend! We hope to see you!

It’s warm uptown at the Deli

It may be snowy and windy and still frosty with the January chill, and maybe your school has closed today or even work, but if that’s the case you could drop into Urban Deli. We’re open, and we’re warm!

The food is warm too. It’s from our kitchen where the heat is always on. For instance, you might want to indulge in:

  • Our popular Reuben Sandwich, or
  • Our Roast Beef Melt Sandwich, or
  • One of our two pasta dishes — creamy Pesto Pasta or our Mac’N’Cheese.

You may even want to close your eyes and imagine you’re somewhere south as you enjoy our Pulled Pork Sandwich or Muffuletta Sandwich.

You might even want to go with something simple and traditional on a snowy, cold day: soup. Our soup is always homemade, fresh and hot.

Taking New Brunswick to the world

We’ve been too quiet for too long on our site here but believe us, we’ve been busy in the deli. But in being quiet online, we’ve neglected a few things, including Picaroons. Today we saw a great article about them, Picaroons eyes global audience. According to the story, “A $30,000 grant from Business New Brunswick will help send bottles of locally brewed beer to new markets around the globe.”

That’s wonderful … The world could use a nice taste of New Brunswick. Let it flow!

Being quiet here on the site, we also neglected to thank Picaroon’s for the profile of the Urban Deli they’ve put on their site. Many thanks!

Finally, for whatever it’s worth, we took a look at our menu and based on the first month or so our being open, we found that while just about everything was popular, the top five were:

  • Montreal Smoked Meat
  • Veggie Burger
  • Spinach Salad
  • Reuben Sandwich
  • Mac ‘N’ Cheese

And that’s about it for now. Bon appétit!
