Great province, great city – the best

Here NBIn the latest Here NB they have their Best of 2011 – A&E/Style/Music and that includes their Top restos of 2011. They look at our little triangle of Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton. In Saint John, they had four restaurants on their best list — including Urban Deli. To put it mildly, we were elated!

A lot of our friends made the lists. For restaurants, there was Urban Deli as well as our friends at:

You’ll also see in the list for “What’s Hot,” our friends at Happinez Wine Bar.

Back in the restaurants category, up river a bit in Freddy Beach we see our friends at Isaac’s Way are listed. If you haven’t seen the issue yet, pick up a copy or pay a visit to Here NB online and have a look at the incredible variety and wonderful arts, crafts, foods, style and everything else we’re doing here in New Brunswick, especially in our tri-city area of Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton.

This is a helluva great province!

Tips results for the Saint John SPCA

Saint John SPCA Animal RescueWe have an update on our Christmas Eve fun where we had customers and friends taking over server duties and all of the day’s tips were going to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. The results are in and …

Together we managed to raise $667.00 for the SPCA!

A huge thank you goes out to all our customers for their generosity and to the great gang that acted as our servers (giving our regular servers the day off to prep for their Christmas).

And one more reminder … We’re back to our regular hours now, opening today at 11:30am.

Those regular hours are until New Year’s Eve, when we close at 3:00pm (December 31). Then we’ll reopen on Wednesday, January 4, back once again to our regular hours. (We’ll be closed on Tuesday, January 3, as we do inventory.)

Thanks again to everyone!

Tips for Animal Rescue today

We want to remind you that we are open today at 9:00am and we’ll be open until 3:00pm and all tips today will go to Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. So tip generously!

Molly Bloom, an SPCA adoptee.

We decided last year that on Christmas Eve day we’d do two things: 1) donate the day’s tips to a charity and, 2) in order to give our servers a chance for some time off to do some last minute shopping, we’d have volunteer servers in the Deli. So today, from noon till close, we’ll have friends and some of our regular customers doing the serving — so be patient and kind! 🙂

It’s actually kind of fun watching them tackle the task of serving tables and seeing what our servers have to do on a daily basis.

The best part is the tips throughout the day go to Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue, a fabulous group of people doing tremendous work for Saint John’s animals.

Enjoy your day, and pop in to see us if you’re in the Uptown. Just a reminder, if you’re looking for last minutes gifts you can pick up an Urban Deli gift card any time today — we’re open 9:00 till 3:00. Gift cards can be any amount you choose and there is no expiry date on them so they can be used any time.

Lastly … Our holiday hours are outlined here. Have a great Christmas!

Help us help Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue

Tomorrow, Christmas Eve day (24th), we’re going to do what we did last year — have some friends and regular customers volunteer to be our servers as we try and give our staff some time off. They’ll be on the floor starting at noon until we close at 3:00.

As they give serving a try, we’ll also donate all the tips to a charity.

This year the charity is Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. They’re great people doing wonderful work and can use help. So we’re hoping we can send something their way through the tips tomorrow, all day, from 9:00am to close (which is 3:00pm — see our holiday hours.)

If you’re in the Uptown tomorrow, drop in for a bite.

And keep in mind, any tip you give goes to Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.

And as a reminder, today and tomorrow, you can drop in anytime and pick up the yummy gift — an Urban Deli gift card. If you’re doing some last minute shopping, this is quick and easy and makes for a tasty gift. You can choose the amount you want to put on the card and there is no expiration date, so it can be used anytime.

Happy holidays!

Holiday hours and a seasonal wish

Holiday hours and an Urban Deli Christmas wish

With less than a week to go before Christmas, we thought we should send out a seasonal wish and also let you know what our holiday hours will be. And so …

We’ll be taking a breather over Christmas and giving our staff a chance to spend some time with friends and family. This means we’ll be closing Christmas Eve (Saturday, the 24th) at 3:00pm and not opening again until Tuesday, December 27th, at 11:30am.

For New Year’s, we’ll be closing at 3:00pm on December 31st (New Year’s Eve) and reopening Wednesday, January 4th at 11:30am. (Yes, on the Wednesday. Tuesday, the 3rd, we’re closed as we do inventory.)

And don’t forget, if you’re starting to panic about gifts for friends and family, drop by the Deli and ask us for a gift card — you choose the amount. They fit quite nicely inside a card. And an Urban Deli gift card can be used at anytime (no expiration date).

It’s a yummy gift idea especially if you have a food lover on your list. (And who doesn’t?)

Hope you’re enjoying the season. Be cheerful, merry and have a great time! 🙂
