Christmas SPCA Day 2017 at Urban Deli

Today’s our annual SPCA Christmas, the day when we have a few friends and regular customers volunteer to be our servers as we give our staff some time off. They’ll be on the floor today till 3:00pm.

We usually do this Christmas Eve day but since that falls on Sunday this year, we’re doing it today. It’s our eighth (we think) Annual SPCA Christmas!

AND as our volunteers give serving a try, we’ll donate ALL the tips to one of our favourite charities — The Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue — fabulous people doing wonderful work. Our owner Liz and her husband John are big SPCA supporters, as is owner Gord, who has made significant donations to the cause.

Liz and John have made adoptions over the last few years: Whiskers (a cat), their beautiful dogs, Storm and Bear. They are hugely grateful for the work the SPCA does, their dedicated staff, the enthusiastic volunteers and everyone in Saint John that has adopted and given an animal a home. Kudos to everyone!

We hope we can send something their way today through the tips and donations. If you’re in the Uptown, drop in for a bite or just to say hello. Any donation you care to make will be gratefully accepted and keep in mind, any tip you give goes to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.

Storm and John (John Mallory Fitness) remind us that a happy dog is an adopted dog and without the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue animals like him would be without a friend.

It’s Christmas Eve day (24th), and we’re doing our annual thing (maybe our seventh year): Have a few friends and regular customers volunteer to be our servers as we give our staff some time off. They’re on the floor now till 3:00.

AND as they give serving a try, we’ll donate ALL the tips to one of our favourite charities — The Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue — fabulous people doing wonderful work. Our owner Liz and her husband John are big SPCA supporters, as is owner Gord, who has made significant donations to the cause.

We’ve Put Pizazz in Our Chop Chop Menu

Yes, it’s here again: Chop Chop Saint John, the Fall 2016 edition. This time, we thought we’d try a little pizza pizazz. Here’s the menu:

The Deli is Seven Years Old!

ud_bd02Today is our birthday — we’re 7 years old! We opened July 13th, 2009 and haven’t looked back.

We’re proud to say we have the best customers and the best staff anywhere. And why wouldn’t we?

We’re in the heart of Uptown Saint John, the best place to be!

Thank you to everyone in the Uptown, the other great businesses that pump life into the city every day. And thank you to everyone in Saint John, New Brunswick, the Maritimes….What a fabulous place!

And thanks to everyone that has ever visited us, asked us to cater their event, and to all the people we’ve been able to work with behind the scenes, in the kitchen, and to all the wonderful suppliers that keep us going.

We absolutely love this place!

Our Burger Week is an ode to our outgoing Mayor Mel Norton, who is a big Star Wars fan AND we are a fan of his! And so…In a galaxy not so very far away (68 King St. in the Uptown, to be exact)…

Loads of April Yuks Coming to Saint John

If you thought April laughs were restricted to April Fool’s Day, you would have thought wrong. Bigger laughs are on the way April 27th when Yuk Yuk’s On Tour Stand Up Comedy comes to Saint John.

It will be at the Trade and Convention Centre, in the Marco Polo Room, and it’s set to go April 27th at 7:00pm. Admission is $16. The MC will be Halifax’s Catherine Robertson and the acts include two guys from the Halifax ComedyFest 2016, beginning with John Cullen (sometimes known as ‘the curling comic’) and the headliner, Jean Paul (“Saving the world — one joke at a time.”)

You need to be 19+: this is uncensored comedy (and discretion is advised). Real comedy is not for the faint of heart. 🙂 It’s for those who really like to laugh.

This is a great way to support comedy and to support Yuk Yuk’s newest comedy venue coming to our Uptown in September.

AND as they give serving a try, we’ll also donate ALL the tips to one of our favourite charities — The Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. They’re great people doing wonderful work. Our owner Liz and her husband John are big SPCA supporters, as is owner Gord, who has made significant donations to the cause.

Liz and John have adopted a cat (Whiskers) and two beautiful dogs, Storm and Bear. They are tremendously grateful for the work the SPCA does, their dedicated staff, the enthusiastic volunteers and everyone in Saint John that has adopted and given an animal a home. Kudos to all of you!
