It seems as if we opened our doors yesterday and today woke up to find ourselves one year old. Does time really move that quickly? Apparently — especially when you’re trying to serve food!
The Urban Deli opened on July 13, 2009. One year later, we’re still here.
It’s fascinating what happens while you’re busy. We’ve had lots of customers come into the Deli and in what seems the blink of an eye some have become regulars, many have become friends, and our staff have become family.
But what has most amazed us has been the way Saint John has welcomed and taken us in, and how Uptown Saint John has made us a part of one of the most exciting and growing communities anywhere in the country.
“Thank you Saint John,” doesn’t come close to saying how grateful we are to the Port City but, thank you Saint John!
And a huge thank you to our staff — not just for the work you do, but the way you do it.
Year one is behind us; the future is ahead and wide open. We’re loving it!
Happy 1st year Anniversary and Congrats on the great success to Liz, Gord, and the wonderful team..,. Keep up the wonderful work. Saint John is lucky to have you. Will we (in Moncton) be lucky enough to get your second location? lollollol…
See you soon,,,
But Bill wants one in Freddy Beach! 🙂
Thanks Charlotte! We’re busy but happy!
It is certainly no surprise how fast today, our anniversary day has gone by…this past year at the Urban Deli is a perfect example of how time passes quickly.
The doors are closing, the music is fading and a deep sigh of relief rises from within as a result of having a true sense of accomplisment. Since living in Montreal in the mid 80’s a deli has always been my dream…I always knew the ‘what’ but not the ‘how’ my dream could possibly come true.
Almost 20 years later and with the unconditional support of my sister Michael-Ann, my business partner Gord Hewitt, my fiance John and my friends here in the East and those from away, my dream came true.
Today, the dream continues only because of the support that comes from the people of Saint John and surrounding areas. The team here at the Deli is by far some of the greatest people I’ve had the opportunity to work with.
So for all you dreamers out there, find a path that works for you to make your dreams come true. Surround yourself with others who have the ability to dream and support you in your dream.
With warmest thanks and appreciation,
Elizabeth Rowe
And thank you, Liz. 🙂
Congrats Liz on your successful first year, hope there are many more to come, I will make it a point to stop in for ribs on my next visit to St. John
